Alicia in the Kitchen: Her Chicken Soup to Beat the Flu

My daughter Alicia is tackling a comforting chicken soup that's said to help fight the flu. Her first try is a bit salty, which she proudly tweaks.
A First Taste, Then the Tweaks
Hunched over her pot, Alicia tasted the broth and immediately noticed it was a bit too salty. Rather than getting discouraged, she decided to thin it out a bit — by adding more liquid to soften the seasoning and rebalance everything.
That's exactly what I love to see: she doesn't just follow a recipe, she observes, she adjusts, and she learns. I can't wait to see how it turns out once the soup is finished… and especially to taste it!
Today, I wanted to share a simple yet precious moment: my daughter Alicia getting into the kitchen. On the menu, a chicken soup, the kind you make when someone is coming down with a cold or the flu and you want to lift their spirits as much as their health.
When I asked her what she called her recipe, she replied off the cuff: “a chicken soup, a chicken soup that will help cure the flu.” Hard to be clearer about the chef's intentions!
